Everything We Want Is About How It Makes Us Feel

Take a look:

  • We want happiness—a feeling.
  • We want financial security because we think money will help us feel safe.
  • We want our kids to be loved because love feels good.
  • We want education because we believe it leads to opportunity, which feels empowering.

Every goal is rooted in the feeling we think it will give us whether it's peace, success, love, or a sense of purpose. That means our real pursuit isn’t things, it’s emotions.

Your Feelings Are Already Available

Here’s the truth most people never hear: You can feel the way you want to feel right now. Not tomorrow, not after you hit that next milestone. Today.

You don’t need more money, more time, a better relationship, or a new job to feel peace, love, or joy. You need different thoughts.

Feelings don’t come from your circumstances. They come from the thoughts you choose about those circumstances. And your brain gives you 60,000 of them a day. The good news? You can manage them. You can direct them.

The Power of Thought

If you want to feel:

  • Happier
  • More successful
  • More loved

Or any other way, it’s all available to you right now.

When I wrote my personal constitution, it became clear that what I really wanted in life was to feel peace of mind, acceptance, self-love, and the approval of God. All feelings. And they are all available to me right now. When I realized I didn’t need to wait for something to happen to feel how I wanted, I didn’t wait. I started feeling how I wanted when I wanted.

Model the Life You Want for Your Kids

We can’t control what our kids think. But we can show them what’s possible.

If your kids see you managing your mind and owning your emotions, they’ll want to know how. They’ll ask. They’ll listen. And they’ll learn from your example more than your words.

Even when life is hard, or full of grief, loss, and discomfort, how you respond teaches your children what it means to live with emotional strength.

Feel It, Don’t Flee It

When we let ourselves feel hard things instead of buffering with food, social media, anger, or blame, we model resilience. When we create positive emotion on purpose, we model emotional responsibility.

This is how we live a higher quality of life. This is how we love better. And this is what your kids will copy.

You Can Feel Better Right Now

Everything you want to feel is already available.

  • Worthiness
  • Peace
  • Joy
  • Self-respect
  • Confidence

They’re not the reward for grinding yourself to the bone. They’re the result of managing your mind and choosing your thoughts on purpose.
