Welcome to this week's You Are Destined For Greatness. Shane Jacob of Stable Living Coaching coming to you again this week from HQ headquarters—what I call Stable Living Coaching headquarters—right here in our podcast studio where I record the podcast.
I want to talk to you this week about life coaching. I get a lot of questions like, “What is it? How does it work? What is the real deal here?” And so I want to tell you a little bit about life coaching.
I first heard about life coach—I heard the word—the first time I even heard it, the phrase "life coaching" together was in 2016. I heard about a life coach, and I thought, "Wow, that sounds pretty cool. Have somebody in my side, in my corner, you know, to coach me on life."
You know, and as I looked back, as I look back right now on the significant things that I've accomplished in my lifetime—and if you do this, the same will be true for you—but what I found was is that two things were the same, okay? That I had two things that were consistent in my major accomplishments in my life.
And those are, number one, I had the willingness, I had the desire. Okay? I wanted to change, and I was open and teachable, and I was seeking help to be able to do it. So I had the willingness and the desire.
The second was that I had a coach or a mentor or a teacher of some sort to help me through my major changes and my major accomplishments—everything from major sporting things to running a marathon to horse training and learning how to do all these major accomplishments I’ve done in my life.
Specifically, the life coaches in my life have helped me—and here's what's worked for me: I'd be able to make more money. Even more importantly than that, I’ve become—I have better relationships. I just, I understand people better and I deal with people better because I deal with me better.
Life coaching has helped me understand that the noise, the clutter, the constant chatter in my mind—what it is, what it comes from, how to deal with it. And it's given me a better relationship with myself, which therefore has given me a better relationship with everyone. Okay?
I currently have a—I currently work with my own life coach. So this isn't something that I'm just preaching. This is something that I do on a consistent basis that has made a significant difference to me, so I highly recommend it.
And it doesn't mean—it doesn't mean anything like, “Oh well, you can't, you can't—you know, you're not doing life right. You don't understand it. You're doing it wrong. You suck as a whatever.” You… It's not about that.
It's wanting to make change if you feel stuck and you're not exactly sure how. And it's in wanting to get the most that you possibly can out of this lifetime while you're at it, and be—just be—as good as you can be.
Not every life coach is the same. If you want coaching by me, I suggest that you just try it for 30 days. Come and let's talk and let's see if we can—if I can help you get on track to do the things that you want to do, because it's all about you.
So the life coaching that I do is about 95%+ virtual. So it's you and I speaking one-on-one on a—we usually on a weekly basis—on an online call. Okay?
Occasionally I go to people’s houses—like I call this my three-day intensive turnaround. This is for people who feel like they want something to happen now. And so I do that occasionally where I'll fly to wherever you are in the world, and I'll spend—you know, I'll have a meeting with you, your spouse if you have one, each one of your kids.
And then I'll assess the situation and then I'll lay out a system and plan and monitor and guide and go through a systematic implementation of a system to help you make the change that you want to in your family's life.
Because at Stable Living Coaching, I specialize in parent and teens—because I had such a rough go when I was a kid that led to a whole bunch of bad decisions in my life and a whole bunch of really pain and destruction.
And that's what led me—I looked back and I said, "I wish I would have known now what I know then." And you probably had that same thought. But that's what drove me to create Stable Living Coaching and to learn and study human development for as long as I have—for well over 10 years—to become an expert in self-confidence, to become an expert in mind management, you know, to understand what's happening in our mind and to be able to be intentional with it and make the choices that you want.
Hey, you're doing better than you think you are. You have all the answers. Having a coach in your corner to help guide you—that can see things that you can't see from within, within your own life—it's worth it. And I highly recommend it.
I think everyone should have a life coach. I think more and more people are definitely—as time goes on—because it's such a, it's such—it’s such a value to our lives. It makes such a significant difference like it has in mine and so many people that I coach.
Hey, thanks for being with me. Remember, You Are Destined For Greatness.
