Welcome to this week's You Are Destined For Greatness. Appreciate you taking your time to be here with me today, and I'm going to do everything that I can to make your time right now worthwhile.
Okay, here's the deal. Words mean things, okay? They mean things. A lot of times, I'll tell you one I used to say that I wasn't really aware of. People would say, "Well, how you doing, Shane?" I'd say, "Well, do you want to know the truth or something more pleasant?"
And people would sometimes laugh, and they really wouldn't know what to say. But you know, I realized it wasn't helping me, and it wasn't helping them. You know, it was creating this—feeding the narrative in my head that something was wrong, right, with, with me, or something that wasn't right, or that a whole bunch of unpleasant was going on inside of me—whether it was or not, right?
And even if it was, it's something that I didn't want to broadcast and present that way.
More importantly are the words and thoughts that we speak and that we think about ourselves. Okay? Because what we know is that whether or not we know it, all of the input that we get in our lifetime comes into our mind.
And if we're not intentional about it, we start making meaning about ourselves, okay? And that meaning that we're making, unless it's intentional, a lot of times we're gonna have a negative result. We're gonna self-sabotage. We're not gonna be able to get the things that we want. We're not gonna be able to have the kind of relationships that we want.
And we're gonna wonder why. And at the core, the foundation is what we think about ourselves—what we hold to be true about ourselves.
Here's an example, okay?
"I can't believe I did that."
"I can't hold my stuff together."
"Or, you know, what's wrong with me."
"Or, you know, even things like, well, I can't remember names."
"Oh, I'm not good with numbers."
You know, on and on and on and on. I can't, I'm not, I'm this and that and the other.
We limit ourselves with our thoughts, and that's what's actually limiting in us, and these things make real differences in our lifetime.
So this week on the podcast, I would encourage you to watch it. It's called One Upping It.
We're one upping our negative thoughts, and it's basically, what it is, it's a three-part system to recognize, reframe, and record our... to become aware of and how to manage these negative things that we're saying, and how to replace them and add to them with positive.
Because here's the goal: my goal for you and for me is for you to more come to know, to more come to realize and willfully internalize for yourself how truly amazing, how priceless, how worthwhile, how worthy that you are in this lifetime—to more recognize your perfect imperfection. Okay?
That's my goal.
And I'll tell you why. 'Cause you're gonna have better results, you're gonna have better relationships, and you're gonna make a bigger contribution and reach more of your potential for the time that you're here on this earth. That's why. And it's worth it.
