Welcome to this week's You Are Destined For Greatness. I appreciate you taking your time to be here with me this week, this afternoon, and I've got something to talk about that I'm really excited about because it's a big thing. It is the one thing. I don't know if you know this, but there's one thing—one thing that centuries worth of philosophers and writers and authors and teachers have said that is such a big and important...
And there's one thing that has more influence and impact than any other thing on your results in this lifetime. One thing that influences everything that comes out of you, that influences your thoughts, your feelings, your actions, and your results in this lifetime more than any other thing. One thing. There's mountains of research over this over the last 10 years. In other words, the scientific community has been proving and proving and proving that this one thing is going to more determine your outcome than any other thing. Okay.
All the positive and all the negative. Just think about it. Some of the negative things that you look back on that you don't like, that you did, or you wish you would have done differently, or that you regret. Okay.
Sometimes I react in anger or frustration, and I kind of lash out at people without even thinking. Then I have to go back and fix it. I've talked about this in this weekly video before. Sometimes I get my feelings hurt. Have you, ever, about anything? Right.
Sometimes I procrastinate. Sometimes I don't keep my promises to myself. Sometimes I don't go for it, and then I wish I would have. Sometimes I don't say and speak up until it was kind of too late. You know, sometimes I let fear take over and I diminish myself, and it goes on and on and on and on.
Sometimes the way that I treat other people, I'm not happy with all the time, right? These are things that I work on. And so all of this plus and minus—and maybe you can relate to some of the minus—is because of this one thing.
The one thing, okay, if you can believe this, that's going to have again more to do with you, your outcomes, and the influence that you have on other people than any other thing. Okay?
And you know what the thing is because we've heard about it. You've heard about it. And what the one thing is—is what you believe to be true about you. That's the one thing. Okay?
We all know that my self-esteem, my self-confidence, what I believe about me comes out in every way. Okay. But the surprising part to me is, if that is true—and I know that it is—is that there is not very much conversation about it. We've all heard it. It's like we kind of think we got it.
But really what the thing is, is nobody really tells us how to get it done. How do I change what I believe about me if I want to improve how I believe about me?
And let me just tell you, it can happen. Okay? I used to firmly believe that I did not deserve to live, for a long time. And let me tell you, the results—they came out in lots of awful ways. Okay.
And you know this, but this is a good example that you can see. I'm telling you that you can change what you believe about you, no matter what you think about you. It doesn't have to be bad. It doesn't have to be great. It can be wherever you are in a spectrum.
You can change—if you choose to—what you believe about you. Okay. And I am proof of that. And to some degree, you probably are too. Maybe you can relate.
So how specifically do you go about getting this done if it's such a big deal? Well, the book that I'm writing—I list seven habits that you can develop over time to change what you believe about yourself.

But here's the thing. I would ask you to consider thinking about and just stating—I ask most people and they can't even really say what they think about themselves and what they believe.
Make three “I am” statements about you. What are they? And what do you want to believe about you? Okay?
Because you're going to be spending more time with you, as long as you're breathing, than anybody else. And you can have it be whatever you want.
Do you want to spend the rest of your breathing time on this planet with an amazing human being or somebody that didn't quite get it done—lived kind of pretty good, but just mediocre and did okay? Because the choice is fully yours, okay?
You only need two things to change what you believe about you: a desire and the know-how. If you bring number one, I will help you with number two. I will.
And here's the thing—let me just tell you this in case you're wondering—you’re worth it. You are worth it.
Regardless of what you've done, and regardless of what you have not done, and regardless of what has been done to you, you are a 100%. Just know that. Stay with me.
